The UN celebrates the English Language on this day. The 23rd of April marks both the birthday and death of William Shakespeare, the great English poet and playwright.
The English Language Day is one of the six official language days celebrated by the UN, each day dedicated to one of the official languages of the UN, with the purpose of recognizing the importance of cultural diversity and multilingualism.
